DEWmocracy wins
2011 Grand Ex Award
I am proud to announce that Mountain Dew and Motive won the coveted 2011 Grand Ex Award from Event Marketer magazine. This award is given to the best experiential campaign in the world. I was an art director on this campaign that hit audiences in 69 cities across the US in under a month, utilizing both live and digital events. Fans were given the power to guide every step of the three teams’ journey across the country via their interaction on Dewmocracy.com, Facebook and Twitter.

The Children’s Hospital
Flappers & Fellas
I am fortunate enough to be a volunteer at The Children’s Hospital Colorado and every week I get to work with some great kids. One group that I work with is TaYA (Teen and Young Adult). This group is for patients treated for cancer or blood disorders. Every year, the group throws a prom for all of the kids and this year I was asked to design the logo, invitation and collateral pieces. Once we decided on a theme for the evening, I also came up with the name for the event — Flappers & Fellas. The kids came dressed to the nines in their finest 1920s outfits. It is an amazing group of people, and it was a great night for all involved.

Karyn Bocko is the artist behind Black Fox Betty — a craft studio featuring homemade, one-of-a-kind goods inspired by nature, whimsy and feminine sensibilities. Karen contacted me about creating an identity for her burgeoning craft business. She wanted to convey a sense of contemporary style, with a nod to the vintage. Above is the final identity that I designed, along with some of her wooly mushrooms.

FUN is OK featured on
The Denver Egotist
The Denver Egotist is the center for all things design, advertising and marketing related in Colorado. The site has featured my work several times over the past few years and was kind enough to say that I am “…one of our favorite freelance designers in Denver and a member of the Egotist Recommended Talent list.” I want to thank The Egotist for all they have done for the Denver design community. The Egotist network is now more than 20 cities strong across the US.

Denver Public Schools
Secondary Education Logo
When I was first contacted about creating a logo for Denver Public Schools Secondary Education program, I knew I wanted to be a part of this project. Being the son of two teachers, I understand and respect the value of education. The goal of this logo was to express the virtues and values of secondary education to students and educators. The concept is that a high school diploma isn’t the end of your educational journey, but more of a springboard to your future.

Motive Business Card
Featured
The Motive business card is one of my favorites projects in recent history. I was given complete creative freedom with the design, as well as not having any budget restraints. This allowed my mind to wander… and wander it did. The end result was a 3 color foil letterpressed card that feels great in the hand. The design has been featured on many sites, including — The Cardonizer, Card Gala, The Design Inspiration, Design Hey and Smashing Geeks.

From The Archives:
Chrome Bags
A few years ago I was approached by Chrome Bags to help them with a benefit project. Chrome Bags manufactures bike messenger bags and apparel for the urban dweller. The Chrome Aces playing card deck was a project supporting bicycle messenger clubs from NYC, San Francisco, Portland and Chicago. Each city chose its top messengers, and ranked them from the number 2 card to the Ace. As a way to reinforce the concept of the project, I created a pattern made up of crutches, bicycle wheels and the Chrome logo. All of the proceeds went to bike messengers that were injured on the job and had no health insurance to assist with their medical bills.
